What’s it really like to work in Search Engine Optimization?
Before I start this article, I must write a little preface so you know a little about me and how I came to work in SEO.
I previously worked in content marketing for several years at a startup in Germany. Now I’m working for a huge organization within SEO. Mainly editorial SEO. I made the switch from managing several social sites, blogs, and web pages to plain old SEO. Just SEO… nothing else but S E O.
So, what does that mean? And what’s it really like to work in SEO full-time? Let’s get into it.
Before people come for me — these are my personal opinions from my experience… and they may well differ from yours…
What does working in SEO involve?
Now, this may differ from company to company and it definitely differs from job to job. So, I can only really tell you what I do within editorial and content SEO. And that includes:
- Keyword research
- Article optimization
- Webpage optimization
- Backlink strategy and acquisition
- Interlinking on the website
- Ideas generation (linking to specific keywords)
